IVCC’s makeover has begun.

Art works are being hung in hallways throughout the campus, and murals are being planned for the B building tunnel. As weather permits, trees will be labeled, and a hosta garden will be planted in the courtyard.

These projects are the result of the beautification task force and $2,000 in seed money raised from IVCC faculty and staff.

Dana Collins, co-chair of the task force, and David Bergsieker are working with students in painting, design and pottery classes on the mural project, which is scheduled for this semester.

The more than 40 art works that are being hung are by IVCC students. Collins said artists and organizations are also being contacted to provide works on extended loan or to donate them.

The tree labeling work is being overseen by chemistry instructor Bob Byrne and biology instructor Tim Horger. Groundskeeper Mike Minnick, co-chair of the task force, is in charge of the hosta garden. The plants are being donated by Hornbaker Gardens.

Collins encouraged students to participate in the projects by contacting her at ext. 351 or Minnick at ext. 303.
