Letter to editor: Web site should educate
Dear Editor,
The Reel Review (Jan. 28, Apache) was NOT boring. Holli Rapp made the valid point that the IVCC web site could be improved. The same statement could be made about the web site of every college in the nation. Perfection is still a rare commodity. A more balanced review of the web site might have mentioned how much better it is than the sites of most area colleges, including the area universities.
Rapp made her points in an interesting way. But, in evaluating her article, which is more important -- the fact that it informed or the fact that it entertained. The same question could be asked about the web site. Our colleges purpose is to educate. If we can do that in an interesting way, we will probably be more effective. However, the article seems to suggest that the entertainment value of the web site is more important than the educational purpose it serves.
