To Apache Newspaper

Please let me begin with a "Thank you" for all of your support over the years. Though I am no longer at the college, I would like to pass on some information that I know to be fact so you can update your records (correcting information in "Lady Apaches Have Rocky History" published Jan. 28, 1999).

1. Greg Oseland’s team, ‘91-’92, finished 5th in the nation with a 25 - 7 record at the Division III Championships in TROY, New York.

2. Greg Oseland’s last team, ‘92-’93, finished with a record of 3 - 26. Only six players remained after picking up players at Christmas Break.

3. My first team, Joe Conroy, in ‘93 - ‘94 finished the year with a 6 - 23 record.

4. My ‘95-’96 team, Joe Conroy, finished 3rd in the nation with a 19-13 record at the Division III championships in CORNING, New York. This team also won the National Sportsmanship Award at the National Tournament.

5. My ‘96-’97 team, Joe Conroy, finished with a record of 20-9 after it was discovered Malcolm X College played two ineligible players on Jan. 30, 1997, a game they won but the win was taken away and given to us after the conclusion of the season.

All of the official score books are in a filing cabinet in the Women’s Basketball Office in the gym. If you ever need any further information, you can consult the gooks at any time. I also left computer discs with the stats from my years at IV with Randy Casey.

If I can be of any help in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me. I hope the program can get back on track next season.

Joe Conroy

Former women’s basketball coach

Editor’s Note:

The Jan. 28, 1999, story and chart, prepared from Apache files, was incorrect on the following:

1. The story omitted the fact that the 1991-92 5th place finish was in Division III and in Troy, N.Y. Story said in New York.

2. The story correctly reported Oseland’s last year record, but the accompanying chart was incorrect.

3. The story correctly reported Conroy’s first year, but the accompanying chart was incorrect.

4. The story and chart incorrectly reported the national third place finish as occurring in 1996-97 instead of in 1995-96.

5. The story incorrectly reported the season record as 19-10, the record before the Malcolm X game was forfeited.

We apologize for the errors and thank Joe Conroy for making those corrections.
