Enrollment this semester is about even with last spring in total number of students and up about 3 percent in number of credit hours in which students are enrolled.

At press time, 3,975 students were enrolled, a drop of only .5 percent compared to last spring. At press time, the number of credit hours in which students were enrolled was 31,161.5, an increase of 3.4 percent compared to last spring.

A story in the Jan. 28, 1999, issue of the Apache incorrectly reported a decline of 8 percent in both students and credit hours compared to last spring. Kelly Conrad, director of admissions, said the number of students was down nearly 7 percent and the credit hours were down about .1 percent at press time for the January issue.

Enrollment has gone up since the beginning of the semester, Conrad reported.

"Evening extension courses began the week of Jan. 25, so people were still registering for those," she said. "We also enrolled our IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) students in Joliet. And we also had some prison and telecourse registrations since the January article."

The impact of the credit hour increase is a positive one, Conrad said.

"We’re all thrilled about the increase in credit hours because it will affect out budget and staff planning."
