The Apache tennis team is off to a 1-0 start after they had last week off due to two schools canceling. Conference action opens April 8.

Bruce Nelson, head coach, said that the two teams canceled on their end and he did not know why.

The lone match and win for the Apaches was the season-opening match against Eureka March 22. The Apaches came home 8-1. The only loss was at #3 doubles.

The head coach said that its too early to tell, about his team, because they only had one match.

"Eureka was a pretty easy team," said Nelson.

Current seeds include #1 Rob Vignali, #2 Scott Grabowski, #3 Dan Kotecki, #4 Chad Zielinski, #5 Travis Klein, and #6 Nathan Tolley.

Zielinski said that both Grabowski and Kotecki are continuing to battle for the #2 seed.

Pairing up for the doubles are Vignali and Kotecki at #1, Zielinski and Grabowski at #2, and Klein and Tolley at #3.

The Apaches will face College of DuPage on April 8, and Harper on April 13, both away.

"We’ll find out, how we are sitting," said Nelson, referring to those upcoming matches.
