Graduation set May 14, Nurse Pinning May 15

About half of the 400 students earning degrees and certificates are expected to participate in graduation ceremonies at 7 p.m. May 14 in the gymnasium.
Philosophy and English instructor Stephen Rhoades, who is retiring at the end of the semester, will deliver the commencement address. His remarks are entitled "A Brain or a Diploma from the University of Kansas."
Graduates will be recognized for academic honors on the following basis for degree candidates:
* Highest gpa of above 3.75 Summa Cum Laude
* gpa of 3.75 and above Magna Cum Laude
* gpa of 3.25 to 3.74 Cum Laude
Certificate honors will be awarded to graduates with a gpa of 3.25 and above.
The Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Gene Montgomery, will provide the music.
NURSE PINNING
At 11 a.m. May 15, 25 nurse graduates will be pinned, indicating they are registered nurses.
Bonnie Grusk, chair of health professions, will pin the graduates. Nursing instructor Alice Hunter will be the featured speaker.
The program will also include recognition of the Student Nurse Association officers and a slide presentation of the graduates.
Ruth Moyle and Michelle Batkiewicz will provide instrumental music.
