NEW STAFF:  Four full-time instructors join college faculty

New to the IVCC staff this fall are four full-time instructors, and a Director of Career Planning and Placement, and two staff members have assumed expanded and new positions.

The instructors are Anna Bruch in nursing, Lauri Carey in agriculture, Ray Garcelon in health and physical education and Linda Thomas in reading; the new Director of Career Planning is Kathleen J. Glascock. Emily Vescogni, who served as a librarian, has been named Director of Learning Technologies; and Dawn Lockwood, who served as part-time Faculty Facilitator spring semester, has been named Facilitator to Instructional Technology, a new full-time post.

Bruch is an IVCC alumni, having earned a CNA certificate. She earned a BSN from St. Francis Medical Center College of Nursing and a MSN in nursing administration from Bradley University.

She served as a registered nurse at St. Margaret's Hospital in Spring Valley and as a peri-operative educator at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Carey has a B.S. degree in ornamental horticulture and an M.S. in agriculture education from the University of Illinois. She was a graduate teaching assistant at U of I, and an instructor at Chain of Lakes Middle School in Orlando, Fla. And at Joliet Junior College.

Garcelon has a B.S. in kinesiology from the University of Illinois and an M.S. in kinesiology with a minor in instructional systems technology from Indiana University. He has also taken courses from Northern Illinois University, Harper College and Iowa State University.

Garcelon worked as a fitness / wellness specialist at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, as an instructor / director of the activity program at Colorado State University, and as a lecturer / assistant coordinator for the personal fitness program at Indiana University.

Thomas has a B.A. in English education from Edgewood College in Madison, Wisc., and an M.S. in curriculum and instruction from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She has taken additional graduate courses at Aurora University, Illinois State University, Northern Illinois University and Southern Illinois University.

Thomas has experience as a part-time English and lab instructor at IVCC, as an English instructor and career counselor at Marquette High School, and as a junior high language arts teacher at Wisconsin parochial schools.

Glascock, who joined the staff Sept. 1, has a B.S. and M.S. Ed. both from Northern Illinois University. She served as a placement counselor at NIU and as the Education to Careers Coordinator at Kishwaukee College. She replaces John Marzetta who retired during the summer.

Vescogni, who assumed her new post in July, has a B.A. from Western Illinois University, completed by distance learning, and an MLIS from the University of Illinois, earned online.

She has been at IVCC since 1990, starting as a library clerk. She replaces Melissa Templeton who resigned during the spring semester.

Lockwood has a B.A. in social sciences from Cornerstone College in Grand Rapids, Mich., and is working towards an M.S. in instructional technology from Western Illinois University. She has experience teaching at the First Baptist Christian Academy, and part-time for IVCC in the Reading, Writing and Study Skills Lab and for the Humanities and Fine Arts and the Business and Engineering Divisions.
