Applications are being accepted for a number of scholarships.

IVCC Foundation Scholarship applications for 2001-2002 are available in the Financial Aid Office, C-214. More than 130 scholarships will be awarded in several areas of study. Application deadline is March 2, 2001.

Two off campus organizations are offering scholarhips.

The newly established Arthur F. Quern Information Technology Grant is administered by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC).

The grant honors the former chairman of the Illinois Board of Higher Education whose distinguished career of public service ended when he was killed in a plane crash in 1996.

The Quern IT Grant provides renewable awards up to $2,500 per student per academic year. Awarding preference is given to financially needy students who already have earned a baccalaureate degree; however, non-baccalaureate community college students also are eligible. The application deadline is Jan. 16.

The grant provides funds to students enrolled in programs of study that fall into one of the following eight categories: computer and information sciences; computer engineering; business information and data processing services; electronics and communication engineering; electrical

and electronic engineering related technology; electromechanical instrumentation and mechanical technology; mathematics and computer science; and information processing.

Students attending Datatel client colleges are eligible to apply for: (1) the Datatel Scholars Foundation Scholarship; (2) the Angelfire Scholarship, awarded to a student who is a Vietnam veteran, spouse or child of a Vietnam veteran, or a refugee from Cambodia, Laos or Vietnam during the 1964-1975 timeframe; (3) Returning Student Scholarship, awarded to a non-traditional student returning to college after a five-year absence; or (4) Nancy Goodhue-Lynch Scholarship, awarded to a student enrolled in a technology-related curriculum.
