The Lady Apaches are maintaining their place among the whos who of NJCAA Division II basketball teams as the No. 8 team in the nation in total offense. IVCC had scored 79.3 points per game after three games, according to the NJCAA website.
Jaci Bice was in the top ten in the nation for scoring with 20.3 points per game.
Tiffany Perry said the team works together well for sharp shooting.
Before practice we always shoot about 50 baskets, said the 6-foot-2 center. It helps us a lot with our accuracy".
Perry said the team has good cohesiveness.
Since most of us were from the same conferences (in high school basketball), weve played against each other before, she said.
She added that the team has worked together well from the beginning:
Since we knew each other from before, it was just a matter of playing on the same team instead of playing on opposing teams.
The team record has improved to 6-and-1 after its 80-56 trouncing of Danville Area Community College at the Danville Classic on Dec. 1 and Dec. 2.
We led 29-26 after the first half. Then we switched defenses and ran the floor more and that let us dominate, said Bice.
The 5-foot-9 forward from Mendota scored 24 points in the game. IVCC downed Malcolm X College at the same tournament 90-61.
The Lady Apaches spanked College of Lake County 77-40 on Nov. 30. Bice scored 24 and freshman Katie Kohr from LaSalle-Peru scored 16.
Joliet Junior College was hammered 88-43 on Nov. 28. Olive Harvey was downed 86-41 on Nov. 18.
Kankakee (the Dec. 5 opponent) is one of our toughest games, said Perry, but well kick ass if all play our best - together.
