Casts have been chosen for "I Hate Hamlet" by Paul Rudnick and "Winters Rule" by Dr. David Kuester, both to be staged on campus during the fall semester.
"I Hate Hamlet" is a comedy about a young actor named Andrew Rally, played by Steve Morton, who is offered the part of Hamlet on stage, but Rally despises Hamlet.
The ghost of John Barrymore, played by Steven Miller, haunts the apartment Rally has rented, and Barrymore just happens to have played the greatest Hamlet of his time. Adding to the comedic effect, Barrymore appears in Rallys apartment intoxicated and dressed as Hamlet.
Barrymores objective in haunting Rally is to convince the young actor to play the role Barrymore was famous for.
"It is an action-packed, romantic ghost story," said Dr. Kuester, theatre director.
Other cast members are Angela Brown a Felicia Dantine, Jessica Blumenshine as Deirdre McDavey, Missy Reutner and Lillian Troy and John Pfundstein as Gary Lefkowitz.
The show will be performed Oct. 28-31, and tickets will be available in the bookstore. Admission is free to IVCC students and $3 to the public.
The cast for "Winters Rule," a Christmas production, includes John Flood as Kay, Amamda Castelli as Gerta, Carissa Deshinsky as Elf, Jason Wertz as Gob, Missy Reutner as the Snow Queen and Edward Albert Vasquez as King Winter.
"Winters Rule" is a childrens play adapted from Hans Christian Andersons "The Snow Queen." One performance, on Dec. 1 at 6 p.m., will be open to the public.
Dr. Kuester said there are still openings on technical and stage crews. Performers and crewmembers can earn college credit, he said. Further information is available from the director at 224-0352.
