Online text buying story in error

Some of the information in the Sept. 30, 1999, story "Texts sold online" was incorrect:

IVCC only accepts Visa and MasterCard credit cards, not all major credit cards,

At efollett's IVCC listing, books can be selected only by course number, not through a search of course names or book titles.

Efollett, which provides the online textbook ordering service, included the incorrect information in a press release. Bookstore manager Lauren Sandberg said that the various bookstores that participate in the online ordering have different policies on such things as acceptable credit cards.

"Even though efollett is promoted as a national program, the sites are very store specific," she said.

Sandberg explained that when IVCC students order their books online they will need a copy of their schedules because they will need course letters, course numbers and section numbers. The section number insures that the student is buying the right book, she said.

Sandberg also said that IVCC customers do not need to consider UPS second day and next day delivery, information also provided by efollett, because "everyone in the district is so close that it should not take more than one to two days for books to be delivered without customers having to pay higher costs for that guarantee.".
