COUNSELOR CORNER

Dear Counselor,

Do I need to see my eye Doctor? I picked up the new catalog yesterday to begin planning my Spring 2000 class schedule and I could not find ENG 102, SPH 101, and ZOO 108. Instead I found that all the course numbers look foreign and now contain 4 digits. What gives?

KC

Dear KC,

Don’t panic. Your eyes are O.K. But you are seeing extra digits. All of our courses were recently converted from our long standing 3 digit numbering system to a new 4 digit system in an effort to comply with our newly installed computer system and to be ready for Y2K.

Each division was responsible for re-numbering their courses. This means that ENG 101 (English Composition I ) is now ENG 1001. Additional examples of changes are:

ACT 101 (Financial Accounting) =ACT 1001

ENG 102 (English Composition II) = ENG 1002

SPH 101 (Fund. Of Speech) = SPH 1001

BIO 101 (Gen. Biology) = BIO 1001

HIS 100 (History of Western Civ.) = HIS 1000

MTH 200 (Calculus & Analytic Geometry I) =MTH 2001

If you had difficulty locating ZOO 108 (Anatomy & Physiology II) that’s because not only has the number changed but so has the prefix (ZOO). ZOO 108 is now BIO 1008. Additional prefix changes include but are not limited to: HPR = HPE, BUE = BUS.

Confused? We can help. If you have questions or can’t locate a class don’t hesitate to stop by the Counseling Center and ask.

A Reminder

Make your Counselor appointment now for your Spring 2000 schedule. Copies of Spring class offerings are available (on tables) in the Counseling Center for your use.
