Some new developments have emerged in the investigation of the bomb threat received on campus from an unknown telephone caller on Oct. 7 (see Apache, Thursday, Oct. 21).

Oglesby Police Chief Tom Martin said his department had received some new leads including narrowing down the phone line the call came from.

Martin said, "We’ve found the telephone it came from, a pay phone in LaSalle."

The pay phone is located on the 1800 block of St. Vincent’s Street. Martin said he thinks that it is just a matter of time before the caller is identified.

"We have a few eyewitnesses from the area that remember seeing people using the pay phone at that time of day," Martin said.

Over 1000 students and faculty were evacuated after the 7:34 a.m. telephone call from an unidentified woman from an unidentified phone number.

Switchboard operator, Dianne Fisher, who took the phone call, identified the caller as "a woman with a deep voice in her 20-30s, but no older."
