Amnesty International inactive
Amnesty International will not be active on campus this fall, and "most like not in the spring 1999 semester either," according to advisor Pat Cole.
Cole said other commitments she has are not allowing her the time to advise the group. She asked that anyone interested in advising contact Cory Tomasson, Coordinator of Student Activities.
In recent years, the group had hosted a number of events to heighten awareness of international problems and to campaign for social justice. It is affiliated with the worldwide AI organization which works for the release of people detained because of their beliefs, race, sex, ethnic origin, language or religion.
Last year IVCCs group raised more than $300 through a "helping hands" project for International Chidrens Day.
