Parking lot #1 near completion

Resurfacing of parking lot #1 was scheduled to be completed this week.
Larry Rousey, interim director of facilities, said the parking lot project was originally scheduled to be done in June, but as a state run project "we (IVCC) have no control over which projects get done first"."
Rousey said work on the parking lot was also delayed by the discovery of soft spots, caused by improper compaction levels, which forced the contractor to dig the first layer up.
The parking lot project is costing just over $200,000.
Rousey said next year the drive that runs alongside the gymnasium is to be resurfaced.
GYM ROOF LEAK
A leak that developed in the gym roof while the new roof was being installed three weeks ago did not cause any damage.
The one-day incident was caused by workers leaving some areas uncovered, Rousey said.
The parking lot and roof projects are being handled by The American Building System of Chicago.
