Bloodmobile successful

The Bloodmobile / Bone Marrow Drive sponsored by the Student Nurse Association and the American Red Cross on Sept. 10 slightly surpassed last year’s drive.

This year the number of total blood donors was down, but the number of units collected was up. SNA Advisor Pam Mammano reported that the Red Cross obtained 70 pints of blood versus 68 from last year.

This year’ number of first time donors was down, Mammano said, with only 19 versus 32 last year.

The 42 who signed up for the bone marrow registry matches the number from last year, Mammano said, but she added that the six potential donors who are minority nationalities was a plus since only one minority nationality registered last year.

In the tee-shirt raffle held at the end of the drive, students Jessica Michael, Nick Holdcraft, and Bob Koleser won in the bloodmobile category and Jessica Novak won in the bone marrow category.
