Christmas Activities Planned by Campus Organizations
Residents of nursing homes and underprivileged children will receive special Christmas gifts this year courtesy of the Student Nurse Association and the American Chemical Society.
SNA members are sponsoring a Giving Tree to provide gifts to residents of area nursing homes. The tree, outside of the nursing office in building B, is hung with cards that identify a needed item.
SNA public relations director Kim Briddick encouraged everyone to "make someones Christmas a little brighter" by picking a card from the tree, buying a gift, wrapping it and bringing it to the nursing office by Dec. 9.
Members of the ACS are planning a Christmas party for underprivileged children from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 5 in the cafeteria. The party will include a phun Chem show, games, prizes, Santa Claus and lunch.
ACS secretary Julie Gula said the group is accepting donations of money and gifts for girls and boys ages one to 12.
"This is something new we are trying," Gula said. "We would appreciate everyones support so that this will be a success."
Anyone interested in helping or wishing more information can contact Gula, ACS advisor Robert Byrne, or members Jamie Townsend or Rhiannon Petzel.
