Family Reading Night Nov. 19
Book discussions, a presentation by author Steve Stout and programs for children of all ages will highlight the second annual Family Reading Night Nov. 19 on campus.
The 6 to 8 p.m. event will also feature creative writing and publishing workshops an open microphone program and a puppet show. All events are free of charge.
The evening begins with a 6 p.m. gathering for everyone in the Cultural Center. It will include an opening story and a preview of the nights events.
A series of breakout sessions begin at 6:30 p.m. Preschoolers will meet in the cafeteria for stories, activities and guest story tellers. Elementary school children will be in the Cultural Centre for puppet shows, ethnic stories and a story teller.
Junior and senior high school students, college students and adults are invited to attend Stouts presentation in C-316, an open microphone program in the Fireplace Lounge and creative writing and publishing workshops.
Stout is the author of "Starved Rock Stories," "Black Damp: The Story of the Cherry Mine Disaster," and "Starved Rock Murders."
Book discussions will focus on "Life Estates" by Shelby Hearon in room F-114 and "Dracula" by Bram Stoker in F-113. Refreshments will be available in the cafeteria at 7:30 p.m.
A book sale will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. with over 150 titles available at reduced prices.
