A play by IVCC theater director Dr. David Allan Kuester will open on campus Dec. 2.

"A Holiday Dream," a children’s holiday play, will premiere with a public performance at 6:30 p.m. in the Cultural Centre. Performances on Dec. 3 and 4 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. are reserved for area schools.

The play, recently accepted for publication with I.E. Clark Publications, follows a shy boy named Tim as he journeys through storybook land in a magical dream.

Tim is led on this adventure by a holiday elf who is determined to help Tim not to be afraid of the world. During this adventure Tim encounters the evil witch from "Hansel and Gretel," the wolf from "Little Red Riding Hood," and rescues a group a story book characters trapped in the Giant’s castle of "Jack and the Beanstalk."

The cast includes: John Pfendstein as Tim, Judy McQuilkin as Mom, Stephanie Benson as Petrenella, Chris Leone as Hansel, Amy Gregory as Gretel, Melanie McCoy as the Witch, Megan Baznik as Red.

Also: Jeff Twardowski as Grandma and the Giant, Aaron Campbell as the Wolf, Brian Harbeck as Jack, Jennifer Rodrick as Harpo, and Missy Reutner as the Giant’s Wife.

Kuester explained that a video tape of the IVCC production would be available through the publisher.

"I am very excited that we were able to do the first performance that will be video taped for the publishers," the author said. "That makes it exciting for our students."

Tickets, available in the bookstore and at the door, will be free of charge to IVCC students and staff.
