Bios of Grant Instructors (PIs)

Principal Investigator Dorene Perez, the Program Director/Instructor of CAD/CAE at IVCC since 1987, was one of the originators of the MIMIC project. A co-leader of the IVCC Tech Prep team, she has been recognized for her pioneering in the development of online courses. She participated in the revision of the Mechanical and Design/Drafting CAD program at Moraine Valley Community College, an NSF funded program. She holds an Associate in Applied Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from IVCC. Before teaching at IVCC, she served as the Computer Aided Design Manager for Conco-Tellus (owned by Interlake) for five years. 

Co-Principal Investigator James Gibson has been the Program Director/Instructor of electronics at IVCC for 11 years. He has extensive experience in industry including an assistant engineering position in a high current testing laboratory, a quality control engineering position at a manufacturing facility, and a position evaluating test equipment for a cellular telephone company. In 2005, he was named Outstanding Faculty by the National Association of Industrial Technology. He served as a State Director of the Illinois Association of Electronics and Electrical Educators and has hosted the IAEEE State Skills Contest. He holds an M.S. and a B.S. in Industrial Technology with a minor in chemistry from Illinois State University. 

Co-Principal Investigator Rose Marie Lynch is the co-leader of the IVCC Tech Prep team and former co-director of the college’s Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Assessment. She teaches communication skills for the workplace and provides communication skills training to the technical students. She holds a Ph.D. in English from Ball State University.  In 1999, she was named Illinois Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation.
