IVCC students place in national
engineering poster contest

Illinois Valley Community College students Tyler Keller of Mendota and Amanda Becker of La Salle earned the top two honorable mentions in the Engineering Education Service Center’s sixth annual poster contest recently.

Civil engineering was the theme for the contest that drew 188 entries from colleges, universities and elementary schools across the United States.

"Francie’s students continue to place in this contest," said Dorene Perez, IVCC computer aided drafting program coordinator, referring to Francie Skoflanc, graphic design program coordinator.

Illinois Valley Community College students Amanda Becker and Tyler Keller receive honorable mentions in national contest.

Director of EESC, Celeste Baine said, "Competition was fierce. Each year, the posters get better. One student showed civil engineers fixing a dam with puzzle pieces, another used the three little pigs and their improved housing structure from straw to brick as a civil engineering example and another saw civil engineering as a way toward a sustainable future. The list goes on. Students are really getting it."

The winning entries will be posted on the EECS web site (www.engineeringedu.com) and used in campaigns promoting engineering careers.
