A week ago we were wearing winter coats, bundled up from
head to toe and had like 20 layers on. And now we’ve had our first glimpse of
spring.
I don’t know about you, but it feels so nice to go outside
without a huge winter coat on. It’s been a long time since my driveway has
looked this clear; there’s actually no ice on it!
In a way it’s sad that we’re all excited about temperatures
in the 30s and 40s, but, hey, the winter weather has been crazy this year.
All this warm weather and sunshine is definitely going to
cause some spring fever.
I can already see the fever in people. I know I am not the
only one who cannot wait to do away with bulky coats. Sweatshirts, shorts,
sunshine, green, just being outside — I love thinking about all the things we
can do and wear during the spring.
Just as spring brings new life for plants and animals, for
many of us at IVCC spring brings another stepping stone.
Graduation is approaching. A new beginning is fast
approaching, whether be it transferring to a four-year university or entering
into your career path. Spring brings with it the first sparks of excitement and
stabs of nerves. Don’t think about too much just yet, we still have a while to
wait.
It’s easy to get caught up in all the nice weather, but, in
reality, it’s still winter, which unfortunately means we probably have not seen
the last of snow. It’s a little unfair how Mother Nature tricks us. We’ll have a
week or two of sunshine and then she says, psych, winter isn’t over yet; here’s
another 2 feet of snow.
On the bright side, the ground hog did not see his shadow
this year, never thought I’d see that happen. So, maybe we’ll see an early
spring after all.
