Registration preparation under way |

By Jarryd Hawley IV Leader Staff, Feb. 17, 2011 While it may seem like the spring semester is just getting rolling, registration for summer and fall sessions is just about a month away. That means students need to start preparing now, according to Tracy Morris, the associate vide president for student services. Morris offered tips during an interview about how to make your registration experience as efficient and painless as possible. Morris said the first thing all students need to do when preparing for registration is to talk to a counselor. Counselors are incredibly important to keep you up to date with the ever-changing requirements transfer students face, and to help you get the best schedule you can, Morris said. The key to meeting with counselors is to come early, and come prepared, as appointments fill up quickly. Morris suggests that students should See a counselor every semester until they are assured they are ready to graduate. When it comes to getting the most out of your counseling appointment, Morris says the best thing you can do is be prepared! You need to go into the appointment with some idea of what classes you want to take, instructors or sections you like and the time constraints you might have. The best resource available to do this kind of planning is WebAdvisor. Web Advisor has all available Summer and Fall classes listed with time and instructor information. With WebAdvisor you can put classes in your queue, just as you would if you were shopping online, and then reserve them on the first day of registration. WebAdvisor can be found at IVCC.edu/WebAdvisor. According to Morris, the first day of online registration for Summer and Fall classes are March 28 and April 4, respectively; registration in person begins the following day. For help setting up a Web Advisor account, students should contact the staff in the Learning Commons, D-201. Students also may contact Admissions, Counseling or Morris with questions. |
