Financial aid workshops available

    Illinois Valley Community College’s Financial Aid Office announced FAFSA completion workshops will be held:

• Friday, Feb. 18 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Ottawa Center;
• Monday, March 14 from 2 to 7 p.m. on main campus, Room E 216;
• Wednesday, March 16 from 2 to 7 p.m. on main campus, Room E 214;
• Wednesday, March 23 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Ottawa Center;
• Wednesday, April 13 from 2 to 7 p.m. on main campus, Room E 214.

    Counselors will be on hand to assist students and their parents in completing the 2011-2012 FAFSA. Participants are asked to bring a copy of their 2010 federal tax return, copies of all students and parent W-2 forms and information on student and parent savings and investments.
    Dependent students should bring a copy of their parent’s 2010 federal tax return and know their parents dates of birth and the date of marriage, separation or divorce.
    Because of an anticipated early deadline to be considered for the ISAC MAP Grant, students are encouraged to submit their FAFSA by March 1, 2011.
    Students and parents may use estimated information if their tax information is not yet available. Prior to the workshop students need to go to www.fafsa.gov and apply for a PIN number.
    Parents also need to apply for a PIN number. Financial Aid counselors will then be able to review applications and help finalize them or make any necessary corrections.
