Local entertainment proves easy to find

 LOCAL LOVE

If you are bored and looking for something to do, going to see a local performance is an excellent choice. Chances are that you can catch some local talent performing any day of the week.
Kenneth J. Lunn, a former IVCC student, is just one great performer amongst many local talented acts that our area has to offer. Born and raised in Peru, Illinois, Kenny started to learn how to play the guitar in fourth grade.        Growing up he also dabbled around with the drums and the piano. Kenny is now 26-years-old and is an outstanding vocalist and acoustic guitarist.
Kenny is a professional musician who is hired to play certain gigs; however, he also hosts “Open Mic Nights” at various places on occasion. One of Kenny’s biggest inspirations was Elvis Presley. He does actually sing and play some Elvis songs. He is very well rounded and enjoys all types of music. He can sing and play various types of music too. Some of his favorite songs to perform come from artists like Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks, John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band, Sublime, of course Elvis Presley, and Michael Jackson. I have even heard him rap some of Eminem’s songs. He is very versatile, and he will play by request.
Kenny mostly plays solo, but sometimes he will pair up to do a show with Ryley Bunzel, another IVCC student. You can see Kenny or the duo perform at different places around the area. One of my favorite places to watch Kenny perform is The Right Spice in Peru. All ages are welcome at The Right Spice, plus, they serve food there! And if you are 21 or older, alcohol. Another place you can catch Kenny is the Waterstreet Pub and Eatery in Peru, which is along the same lines as The Right Spice. Starved Rock Lodge is also a fine place for all ages to go. Yet, he does play out at bars such as Two Fools, Refills, Machelle’s Backstreet, 9th Street Pub, etc. The best thing about going to see Kenny perform is that there is no cover charge, so you can get awesome live entertainment at places where all ages can go free of charge. What could be better than that?
One of Kenny’s many accomplishments was that he was a finalist one year in the Colgate Country Showdown held at Starved Rock Lodge each summer. This is a contest for musicians where the winner is awarded a spot in the state competition.
Kenny graduated from IVCC with an Associate Degree in Science, and an Associate Degree in Art. He plans to attend Columbia College in Chicago and major in film production. He is currently saving up to do just that, and performing locally is helping him to reach his goal.
Besides the fun you will have going to watch a local performance, it is nice when a local talent can look up into the crowd and know that he or she has support from his or her own hometown.

Come see Kenny at an upcoming show:
