All microwaves were removed from cafeteria in late April after the college was inspected by the La Salle County Health Department.
“The college was advised by the La Salle County Health Department to remove the microwaves because of uncleanliness,” said Pat Reed, director of purchasing.
Reed said there was a concern that the microwaves could attract rodents or ants, which led to the microwaves being pulled on April 27.
“We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused students or staff,” Reed said.
The company that stocks the cafeteria vending machines was notified that the microwaves were removed and the vending machines were stocked with non-microwavable items later in the week.
