McCormack Scholars announced at Honors Banquet

    Illinois Valley Community College recently announced its McCormack Scholars, the college’s highest academic honor, at the 42nd annual Academic Honors Banquet at Starved Rock Lodge. 
    McCormack Scholars received a plaque for maintaining a minimum 3.75 GPA in at least 14 semester hours over three consecutive semesters. The award honors IVCC’s first president, Dr. Thomas J. McCormack, who served the college from 1924 to 1932.
    McCormack scholars are Bryan Hybki of Oglesby, Cassie Fuller, Lucas McConville and Andrew Winchester of Ottawa, Keith Lipka and Rebecca Witalka of Peru, Katelyn Mansfield of Princeton, Melissa Anderson of Streator and Veronica Blue of Utica.
    Academic Honors certificates were presented to students who have earned a grade point average of 3.25 or higher in 12 or more semester hours for three consecutive semesters. Students included:

Kim Abel of Mendota was the guest speaker. Abel is a professor of nursing and the 2009 Stephen Charry Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence winner.
