Struggling for a win, the women’s basketball team has lost its last four games, bring the team record to 4-12 (0-4 Conference). The squad has been limited by low numbers and a number of players who are playing their first year of college ball. The team has nine players, with seven of them freshmen.
The team has had a number of close games, such as the Jan. 22 game against Black Hawk College (86-90 L), and the Jan. 24 game vs. Kishwaukee College (77-79 L). The Eagle’s last win was on Jan. 12 against College of DuPage. With a score of 66-59, the team made 25 of 69 two-pointers, 10 of 28 three-pointers, and 6 of 9 free throws.
Leading the Eagles for individual scoring is Shel’Si Weaver, a sophomore, scoring a total of 293 points this season and averaging 19.533 points per game. Freshman Courtney Johnson also has been a scoring leader with an average of 15.4 points per game.
Leading in assists is freshman Camillia Caliph with a total of 70 assists for the season and an average of 5 assists per game.
On the defensive end, Caliph leads with 3.857 steals per game, which equates to 54 total steals this season.
The Eagles will play at home against Sauk Valley on Jan. 31 at 5:30 p.m., and again on Feb. 2 facing Robert Morris Springfield at 1 p.m.
