Blended classes come to IVCC
By Brett Porter
IV Leader Staff
IVCC has decided to include a more non-traditional form of
schooling known as blended classes. What are blended classes? A blended class is
a form of schooling that incorporates both face-to-face instruction and
technology in the form of online meeting and discussions.
A blended class will include regularly scheduled class
meetings throughout the semester although, these meetings are less frequent than
a traditional class. A blended class will meet for face-to-face instruction for
around 50 to 99 percent of the semester.
The remaining percent of the class will be done through
technology. Portions of the class will be done online through discussion boards,
email or chat rooms. Other parts could be done using CD-based instruction.
Blended classes will allow you to configure your schooling
around your work and family schedules.
