Out of 104 student/athletes, 46 finished the semester with a
grade point average of 3.0 or better. As a group, IVCC athletes had an average
GPA of 2.76 and completed 1406 credit hours, according to school officials.
The women’s teams had 29 out of their 55 (53 percent)
athletes finish the semester with a 3.0 GPA or better and the men’s teams had 17
out of 49 (35 percent).
Athletic Director Mike Riley said that he was pleased with
the results and pointed out that only eight athletes became ineligible at
semesters end giving the athletics programs a 92 percent success rate.
Students could become ineligible for not having a 2.0 or
better GPA or by not having full-time status.
Out of the eight ineligible players, two were on the men’s
basketball and one on the women’s basketball team.
