Guard Tony Boykins is going to miss the rest of the season
because of an ACL tear suffered in the Jan 11. Blackhawk game.
Boykins said, “About two minutes left in the game, they
passed to me and I went baseline. The guy [guarding me] was going to take a
charge, so I tried to spin around him. I went down. I thought that I had just
twisted my knee.
“I went to physical therapy afterwards and they looked at it.
They thought it was a strained ligament.”
Boykins tried to play in the Kishwaukee game but went down
20-30 seconds into the game.
“I thought that I might have torn my Meniscus again but when
the doctors looked at the MRI they saw that it was definitely an ACL tear.,” he
said.
Boykins tore his Meniscus while in high school. Familiar with
physical therapy and surgery, he said that although his knee aches in the
morning, it was not as painful as he had thought it would be.
Boykins expects to be 100 percent by summer and plans to take
a few classes and join a summer league.
He said, “Hopefully, I will be able to come back next year
and help the team play up to our potential and win the conference.”
Additionally, Eagles Eric Heider has been suffering from a
severely sprained ankle, Dave Sabino has a sprained back that keeps him
questionable game to game and Marcus Jenkins injured his knee in the Blackhawk
East game.
