Top entries in writing contest listed

The IVCC Diversity Team has announced the list of the top 10 entries (11 due
to a tie) for the 2005 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Writing Contest. They are, in
no particular order:

“We Are Free At Last”, by Katie Nett
“Words of a Wise Soul”, by Dave Phalen
“Martin Luther King Jr.”, by Nathan Hollinsaid

“An Acrostic Poem”, by Melissa Soenksen
These students have been invited to read their entries at a
public ceremony to be held Monday, February 28th at noon in C325. The top 3
places will be announced at the end of the ceremony, and those students will be
receiving cash prizes. Students, staff and the public are invited to attend.
The Diversity Team received close to 30 entries in this, the
second year of the contest. In addition to the public ceremony, students in
IVCC’s Graphic Arts Department will be hosting a diplay that will include
graphic interpretations of many of the Dr. King entries.
