IVCC Language Resource Center open for student use
By IV Leader Staff
The Language Resource Center is now open for use by
students registered in any IVCC World Language courses.
Students can visit the LRC for independent study and attend
classes scheduled in the LRC by their instructor. Facilities have been upgraded
with new hardware and software to supplement the resources available in course
textbooks, according to laboratory instructor Anna Marie Pietrolonardo.
In addition, many useful web-based links are being identified
and added to the menu of resources.
The LRC provides supplemental resources for students with
different learning styles. Students can view films, listen to native speakers,
record their own voices to improve pronunciation, manipulate interactive grammar
and vocabulary building activities and more, she said.
Each world language class now meets in the LRC at least one
session per week during regular class time.
Instructors can utilize the technology available to enhance
their lesson plans. Some examples of LRC classroom activities include paired and
group conversation in the target language. telephoning other students, writing
exercises, web quests, etc.
