New film good for laughs

By Charlie Locke
Movie critic, Feb. 21, 2003

“Shanghi Knights” is an action adventure comedy that recently hit theaters. This movie, the sequel to “Shanghi Noon,” stars Owen Wilson, whose character keeps the audience laughing with his comedy and cynical, if not witty, remarks. Jackie Chan stars opposite Wilson to kick the butt of any and all of the film’s villains.
I guess that if you liked the first one, this movie is one to put on the proverbial to-see list. If not, there’s always a nice Jim Carrey movie to rent at your local video store. Either way, I particularly enjoyed the film’s sense of culturalistic humor mixed with the Kung Fu styles of a decent action movie.
If you need a cheap laugh, go ahead and see this movie before it goes the way of Kevin Costner and disappears from theaters entirely.
