Few parking problems experienced

By Sarah Van Duzen

Even though enrollment is up this semester at IVCC, minimal parking problems have been encountered so far.
Ken Sangston, director of safety services, said students’ attitudes are changing more due to education and because of the increased costs for towing.
It costs an average of $35 to $50 for a tow. The cars are towed to Scholle’s towing yard in Peru.
In past years, students have been towed for parking illegally. Parking lots 2, 3, 4, 5 and the East Campus are reserved for student parking. Parking lot 1 is open to anyone after 4 p.m.
When it comes to accidents, Sangston said there have been a few fender benders, and for insurance reasons, reports were filed with the Oglesby Police Department.
Sangston also suggests that students keep their vehicles locked to keep belongings safe from theft.
Although car break-ins are rare, he said they still do happen.
