Cafeteria to open within a month

The cafeteria will open within the next month. The area has resumed its former location in the lower level of Building C where food services will be provided by Jeremiah Joe and Pizano’s Italian Eatery.
These businesses will be serving from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays.
The cafeteria had been scheduled to reopen at the beginning of the semester. According to Jerry Corcoran, vice-president for business and finance, the delay was needed to work out some details.
“We had to make sure that all matters pertaining to the lease were clear,” Corcoran said. “A few matters warranted further discussion.”
The bookstore is scheduled to move from the gym back to its permanent location in C before the end of this month, Corcoran said.
OTHER PROJECTS
At its Aug. 20 meeting, the college board approved a $1.17 million life safety project that will connect the third floors of buildings A, B, D and E.
Larry Rousey, director of facilities, said, “The board was favorably impressed with the scope of the project.”
The project will be submitted to the Illinois Community College Board for funding. If the ICCB approves the project, the construction will start in the summer of 2004 and should be completed by Christmas 2004, Rousey said.
There are other significant building/maintenance projects planned this semester such as replacing the boilers in Building C, completing electrical infrastructure repairs, moving electronics to D101, and adapting a classroom for the forensics program.
