With Halloween as a mental backdrop, the murder/mystery “Death Trap” will be the fall theater production for IVCC in the Cultural Center.
According to Jared Walters, playwright Ira Levin creates a story with only five characters, but the depth of conniving that these actors reach will keep the audience involved throughout this two-act thriller.
Veteran Ryan Ziegler is cast as Sydney Bruelle, a washed up hack who is willing to do anything to reclaim fame (and fortune). Sydney’s wife Myra, is played by IVCC theater scholarship winner Katie Downey. Another scholarship winner Jared Walters portrays sociopath Clifford Anderson, a young writer whose meeting of Sydney causes the wheels to turn for this play.
Devin Amigoni is Sydney’s lawyer Porter Milgram, a man who has ideas of his own. This play is not complete without Dutch psychic Helga Ten Dorp’s interventions, ably done by Sara Rexius.
Theater times are 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, Friday, Oct. 31, Saturday, Nov. 1, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2. Cost is $5 per person and free for all students showing a valid student ID.
Student Director Michelle Kurth and House Manager Jonathan Savage invite everyone to a special dinner buffet before Thursday night’s show. Students coming that night and showing valid ID will receive two tickets to that night’s show and the complimentary buffet. This casual fare is sponsored by the Student Activity Board, which also helps fund this production. Walters said that other thanks go out to the IVCC Board and to the
Students of Performing Arts and Music Organization for their financial assistance. SPAMO is open to all community members who have an interest in music or theater and wish to help with furthering cultural activities in this area. Those interested in
