Students net more than $900,000

Nov. 13, 2003

Hundreds of Illinois Valley Community College students benefited from Illinois Student Assistance Commission programs during the 2002-2003 school year.
ISAC student financial aid administered in 2002-03 to IVCC students totaled more than $900,000, according to information recently released by ISAC.
IVCC students received $12,000 through 12 merit recognition scholarship awards. IVCC students also were awarded 636 Monetary Award Program grants with a value of $676,538; 145 Illinois Incentive for Access Program grants, $56,000; 126 Illinois Veteran Grant Program grants, $151,957; and 28 Illinois National Guard grants, $21,052.
“ISAC’s programs provide tremendous opportunities for financial assistance for college. The best suggestion is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) soon after completing your 2003 federal tax return,” Steve Crick, IVCC’s director of Financial Aid, said.
Students should apply for financial aid early, said Crick. The MAP application deadline for the 2003-04 school year was Aug. 1, 2003. The MAP deadline for the 2004-05 year is projected to be Aug. 1, 2004, Crick added.
