A new security force has been implemented at IVCC this year.
G4S Security Solutions is an international security agency with 50,000 employees across the United States and Canada.
There are two versions of security that G4S offers, traditional and CPO-Custom. IVCC has the CPO version, which means all the officers have prior military, law enforcement, or correctional institute experience, or have a degree in criminal justice. Each officer is trained in CPR, first aid and the use of a defibrillator.
Two officers from the previous security force, Denny Franklin and Mona Smith, were kept on after the change.
Officers will be patrolling the halls and monitoring cameras. Additionally, officers will be out directing traffic and parking.
According to an IVCC press release, G4S earned the highest score of three finalists based on nine criteria: years of experience, staff expertise, training programs, client references, person-hours proposed, employee turnover, capability to mobilize forces, local support and special assignments.
“Of the finalists, G4S requires the highest level of qualifications of its employees, which increases the security of our campus,” said IVCC President Jerry Corcoran.
