Megan Smith of Mount Morris, Britney Burkart of Peru and
Omar Aburomi of La Salle have been elected to the 2011-12 Illinois Valley
Community College Student Government Association following recent freshman
elections.
Smith was elected freshman representative and Burkart and
Aburomi were elected to the freshman programming board. A total of 233 votes
were cast.
“This was a tremendous turnout for a freshman election,” said
Cory Tomasson, student activities coordinator. “I know all three of these
students, and I am sure that they will each make valuable contributions to the
SGA. The sophomores have done a great deal already; however, now that we have a
full group we can really start working together to accomplish all of the goals
that the members have identified for this year.”
