Illinois Valley Community College’s English, Mathematics
and Education division will host Gary Moore, author of “Playing with the Enemy”
from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6 in IVCC’s Cultural Centre.
“Playing with the Enemy” is the true story of Moore’s father,
Gene Moore, who grew up in Sesser and had a dream to play baseball in the major
leagues. It follows Moore as a young man who enlisted in the Navy during WWII
and the unexpected changes that happens in one’s life.
IVCC’s educational theme of respect is a theme of Moore’s
book, named the 2006 Non-fiction Book of the Year by the Military Writers
Society of America.
A book signing will take place prior to and after Moore’s
presentation and a synopsis of the book is available at
www.playingwiththeenemy.com. This family event is free and open to the public.
