Author to speak on respect

Oct, 6, 2011

Illinois Valley Community College’s English, Mathematics and Education division will host Gary Moore, author of “Playing with the Enemy” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6 in IVCC’s Cultural Centre.
“Playing with the Enemy” is the true story of Moore’s father, Gene Moore, who grew up in Sesser and had a dream to play baseball in the major leagues. It follows Moore as a young man who enlisted in the Navy during WWII and the unexpected changes that happens in one’s life.
IVCC’s educational theme of respect is a theme of Moore’s book, named the 2006 Non-fiction Book of the Year by the Military Writers Society of America.
A book signing will take place prior to and after Moore’s presentation and a synopsis of the book is available at www.playingwiththeenemy.com. This family event is free and open to the public.
