The IVCC golf team finished eight in its only home tournament of the season Sept. 17-18 at Oak Ridge Golf Course in La Salle.
The A team finished with a two-day total of 618. The B team came in 11th place with a 632.
St. Francis led all teams in the 18-team field with a 597.
In addition to the home tourney, the golf team competed in several tournaments recently.
On Sept. 10, the Eagles traveled to Byron Hills Golf Course in Port Byron to compete in the Duane Chanay Invite.
The Eagles shot a 317 as a team, which was good enough for them to finish 4th out of the 19 teams competing.
Black Hawk College won the event with a team score of 310, followed by Carl Sandburg with a score of 315, and Madison College with a 316.
Josh Gass lead the way, shooting a 74 to pace the team, which was also good enough for 3rd place individually. Other scores for IVCC included Nick Rounds posting a 78, Luke Morse shooting an 82, Tyler Bernardoni with an 83, and Broc Kinney finished with an 85 to round out the scoring for the Eagles.
At the St. Francis Invitational on Sept. 14, IVCC finished in the upper half of the field, a strong showing considering they were up against mainly four-year colleges.
The team title went to North Park, who fired an overall score of 292, and the individual title also went to North Park, as Martin Carlsson fired a 69 to lead the way.
IVCC shot 305 as a team, an improvement of 12 strokes from their previous tournament. The Eagles were paced by Nick Rounds' even par score of a 72, Josh Gass chipped in with a 76, Gavin Corrigan shot a 78, Luke Morse supplied a 79, and Broc Kinney added an 81.
The Eagles wrap up their regular season by heading north to partake in the Prairie View Classic at Prairie View Golf Course in Byron on Oct. 1 at 1:30 p.m.
The Eagles will return to Prairie View the weekend after that to participate in the Region IV Tournament, which runs Oct. 7-9, with tee-offs starting at 10 a.m. all three days.
