New opportunities await

IV Leader Editorial, Sept. 4, 2009

    Welcome to IVCC.
We all start off a new year of college loaded with books, backpacks and school supplies.
But we bring other things too — our hopes and dreams, our wishes and aspirations. They join us as we begin or rebegin this chapter in our lives called college.
For some of us, college represents our chance to start off with a clean slate. For others, it is a chance to get started on a new career.
However, whatever your motivation, resolve every day to make your college experience the best you can.
How do you do that, do you ask?
Most of the advice seems like common sense:

We have heard it all before.
However, since we are all starting this new journey together, this is our chance to take some of that advice to heart and resolve to make it work.
For example, through this Friday, freshmen students have the chance to turn in petitions for Student Government Association.
Students can also join clubs to play games, help others or learn more about their chosen professions.
Some clubs are geared toward fitness, such as the Running Club and Wellness Club. Others are pure fun, like Round Table Gaming and Paintball clubs.
At the IV Leader, we always appreciate students who want to write, design pages, take pictures, draw cartoons or share their opinions as columnists.
There are so many choices out there, but the opening move is up to you.
Find something that interests you and follow it to make your college journey better than you ever imagined it could be.
