BAT BOY PLAY
    IVCC will be showing the play and musical Bat Boy on Oct. 30 through Nov. 2 in the Cultural Centre. On Oct. 30 - 31 and Nov. 1 the play begins at 8 p.m. and on Nov. 2 there is a matinee show with the play beginning at 2 p.m. Admission is $8 or free with a student ID.
    According to the press release, Bat Boy is based on a story in the Weekly World News. The musical is a musical comedy/horror show about a half boy and half bat creature who is discovered in a cave near Hope Falls, W.Va. For lack of a better solution the local sheriff brings Bat Boy to the home of the town veterinarian, Dr Parker, where he is eventually accepted as a member of the family and taught to act as a "normal" boy by the Veterinarian's wife, Meredeth, and the teenage daughter, Shelly.

RIVER CURRENTS SUBMISSIONS
    River Currents, IVCC’s literary magazine, is accepting submissions from students. The fall deadline is Oct. 31.
    Students may submit poems, short fiction, scripts and excerpts from novels to be considered for publication.
    Files should be submitted electronically to English instructor Ryen Nagle via e-mail to ryen_nagle@ivcc.edu. Artwork or graphic designs may also be submitted to Nagle in a .jpg format.
    River Currents is published in the spring semester. For information about the student organization, contact Nagle or any IVCC English instructor.
JAZZ PERFORMANCE
    On Oct. 11 and 12, the Illinois Valley Community College Jazz Band will be performing at the LaSalle Jazz Festival in downtown La Salle and the Burgoo in downtown Utica.
