While watching my beloved Dallas Cowboys over the past couple of weeks I have made what can be called reasonable deductions.
I, being an unbiased and objective writer, would have to argue the NFC East is looking like the toughest and most dominant division in the NFL, at least thus far into the season anyway.
The NFC East consists of heavy hitters, these being the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys and last year’s Super Bowl Champions, the New York Giants.
Now, if you will remember, last year the Giants were lucky enough to clinch one of the NFC’s wildcard spots. The Giants progressed through the first round playoffs and the Cowboys were their next opponents. Dallas, being the NFC East’s division champion last year, had a first round bye. This game would be the third of the season between the Cowboys and the Giants, with Dallas beating them twice prior to the playoffs.
To the dismay of Cowboys fans everywhere, myself included, the Giants were able to triumph over Dallas and go on to play the Packers for the NFC Championship. The Giants again won, beating the Packers and moving forward to the Super Bowl.
At the Super Bowl, the Giants were able to defeat the not-so-perfect Patriots and were proclaimed the NFL Super Bowl Champions!
As of week 5, they are looking to do it again being undefeated 4-0. Or perhaps it could it be the Cowboy’s year this year with them boasting a solid looking 4-1 record.
Then there are the equally impressive looking Redskins, who too are 4-1.
With the NFC East playing host to these great teams, it is easy to see why they are looking like the NFL’s toughest division. No other divisions in the NFL have three teams looking this good, and I would wager that the NFC’s champion this year will be coming from the NFC East.
