The IVCC Men’s Golf team has been struggling to take a win in the past few weeks.
At the State NJCAA Championship in Normal, the Eagles played well the first day, but could not pull through for the second day even though the weather was good.
“The players just didn’t have an overall good tournament,” said Coach Tommy Canale.
The Sauk Valley Invitational lifted the teams’ spirits, playing a decent round in harsh weather conditions. “We played about as good as expected due to conditions; we didn’t finish in the top five but [we] played decent,” continued Canale.
In a meet against University of St. Francis, the Eagles struggled, once again finishing in the bottom half of the tournament. The IVCC Invitational held high expectations for the team, playing on their home course—which they practice on almost every day. But the Eagles missed their home advantage and played unsuccessfully.
“I was expecting us to play much better than we did, and [I] hope we get prepared to play for the Regionals as it is right around the corner,” Canale said.
The Men’s Golf Team will play in the Region IV Tournament in Bryon on Oct. 4, 5, and 6, ending the regular season.
