The Early Childhood Education Center has four new staff members for the 2007-2008 academic year.
Donna Brolley serves as the Early Childhood Education Center director. Virginia Pokryfke and Renee Moore are first-year staff members. Allie Nowlin is the Center’s student worker and is planning to pursue a degree in Pediatrics.
ECE currently serves 15 children. Children engage in group and self-directed play in learning centers, outdoor play and quiet activities. Students have snack times and lunch provided by the school.
Julie Sherbyn, an IVCC Health instructor, has a child enrolled at the Center. “The center staff’s professionalism, knowledge, creativity and above all caring, is apparent in the smile I see on my son’s face every time he gets to ‘go to school,’” she said.
The center is open during the Fall, Spring and Pre-summer sessions. Hours of operation are between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Admission is open to children of students, faculty, staff and the community. To be admitted, students must be between the ages of 3-5, have had a recent physical and up-to-date immunizations. Parents are required to fill out a pre-registration form with a $20 registration fee. The center has an open door policy for visitation.
