IVCC’s men’s golf team finished this season with new knowledge of competitive golf and a new look on the spring’s season.
Head coach Tommy Canale said, “we struggled the last part of the season, and truly believe it was due to lack of concentration and not using proper golf course management, which was learned throughout the season.”
Although this season was unsatisfactory, the Eagles sent one player to the National Tournament. Andrew Husser of Princeton qualified for the tournament, which will take place in May in Phoenix, Ariz.“
He [Husser] played well and deserves it,” said Canale.
The team competed at the Region IV Tournament on October 4, 5, and 6, finishing 7th out of 11 total teams. “[We] played poorly the first day and better the following two days, but were too far behind after day one to make up any ground,” said Canale.
The spring season brings hope for the golf team.
Canale said, “It was disappointing that we didn’t finish better, and look forward to doing better in the spring...I’m hoping to make a run at the conference title and see how much our freshman have learned from the fall.”
