Trustee's Corner Column
The topic of athletics will be discussed at the Oct. 24 Board of Trustees meeting. This will just be a preview to the more in-depth discussion at the November meeting. On behalf of the entire board, we look forward to taking part in the meaningful discussions that will result in the best possible outcome that benefit both students and the entire community that is IVCC.
Other than this, I only have a few announcements. There will be members of the SGA and people from United Way collecting donations throughout October. United Way is an organization that works “to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities.” Please be generous.
The “Bras for a Cause” fund-raiser is also taking place in October since it is breast cancer awareness month. State Sen. Gary Dahl (R-Peru) is donating $5 per bra, used or new, to be donated to breast cancer research. Family Pride Cleaners has pledged to launder all bras, which will then be donated to local women’s shelters. Donation boxes will be all over campus until Oct. 30.
Lastly, there will be a Halloween Movie Night Tuesday, Oct.
30.
For further information on any of the items listed above, or for questions, comments, concerns, etc. please feel free to contact myself, or any of the other SGA members. Someone is usually in the office, and for specific hours, check the list on our office door. The SGA website (http://www.ivcc.edu/sga/) is a good place to look for upcoming events. My contact info is kun6546@bart.ivcc.edu, 815.481.2349, my office hours, or by appointment. I hope your semester is going well!
