The River Currents Literary Magazine and the Student Government Association are hosting a free “Fright Night Film Fest” at IVCC at 6 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 30 in the Cultural Center.
The feature films are Stephen King’s “1408,”which will play at 6:30 p.m. and “Nightmare on Elm Street” playing at 8:30 p.m.
Those who dress up can enter a costume contest for money prizes. The categories are scariest, funniest and most original costumes. There will be popcorn, candy and soda available. Participants can play video games, such as Dance Dance Revolution on a big screen.
Greta Lieske, editor of River Currents, participated in the festival two years ago.
“We had a great turn-out that year, and it was a great way to take a break from the stresses of school in the middle of the semester,” she said.
She said this festival is an excellent opportunity for students to get a movie theater experience —and enjoy dressing up for Halloween — without ridiculous ticket prices.
